I would say the best candidate would be the attractive woman who is straight out of college. first of all if she is attractive then viewership will be up because she is pleasant to look at. Being fresh out of college, she will be more up to date on the new ideas and technologies. she will have a fresh perspective and newer outlook on the world compared to the veteran journalist who could be jaded by her years on the job and that fact that she isn’t pretty.
It’s amazing how viewership can skyrocket based on the attractiveness of the anchor, but it’s true. I see her as being very educated, well spoken, and having a bravado about her. All of this on top of her good looks, makes her the clear choice.
What if she wasn’t as able as the veteran? What if her speaking skills and delivery weren’t as impeccable? Should we still hire her over the veteran because of her looks?
(I chose the fresh out of college woman as well, as long as she actually showed potential, but I think it’s good to consider different situations, seeing as we aren’t completely sure of the one that we were given.)
Yeah, she would definitely have to present great communication skills to go along with her good looks. I am just assuming that she not only looks good, but she is highly qualified otherwise. The scenario that we were given left it wide open to interpretation on our parts.
