One of our TV producers came to me this week saying he needs $20,000 for a special effect she wants to use in the season finale of the show.   We can’t afford to give her that, so do we tell her now and risk losing viewers and this producer or do we let her accept product placement in the show to pay for it?   Why or why not?   Respond to the discussion post in the conference room.

It is imperative that you inform the producer right away that there isn’t enough money and cannot afford to pay for the product that is wanted.  Just like any other business, budgets should be set and managed before making any kind of decision.  There should always be a budget to guide where and what can happen and while in that process you can come up with other ideas for another solution.  Losing more money will only lead to losing more money.
